Which feeding technology is best and when?
Viscosity, filler content and filler type as well as the respective container size represent relevant basic information regarding feeding technology. During conveying it is essential to avoid the introduction of air, to convey the medium gently and evenly throughout the entire process and to empty the selected containers as much as possible. The type of processing and feeding of the material is often directly related to the viscosity, the filler content and its potential abrasion behaviour.
Feeding of highly viscous and/or highly filled (abrasive) media
Highly viscous and/or abrasive potting media, which are usually available in standard containers such as hobboks/pails, require robust and reliable feeding in many areas of application. For these cases, the two material feeding units A220 and A280 have been developed. In general, the A220 is used for highly viscous, unfilled materials, while the A280 is used for highly viscous materials with abrasive / non-abrasive fillers. In addition to their space-saving housing design, both systems feature the patented vacuum follower plate, which enables direct and bubble-free feeding from hobboks/pails. It improves process reliability by significantly facilitating material handling for users. Cartridges can also be used as an alternative feeding option. They are particularly suitable for smaller potting quantities and save space.
Feeding of low to medium viscosity, filled or unfilled materials
Low to medium viscosity materials are usually not supplied by the manufacturer without air inclusions and potential fillers will have sedimented due to the lower viscosity. Consequently, it is necessary to degas and homogenize these materials. For this purpose, low- and medium-viscosity materials are fed via tank feeding units. Various variants of the A310 system are used for this purpose, which allow simultaneous processing and feeding.
